What if it's 10ms longer? Well, it's not a big thing if you just write a word or a sentence. This allows you to write like you normally write on paper. Only RM2 and Supernote are now in the less-than-30ms league, in which case you almost won't feel the lag when you write. E-ink devices, on the other hand, are limited by technology.
IPad is very powerful and provides very low writing latency. Boox devices require writing covers and they can wear off pretty quickly and reapplying it isn't fun. RM2's rough surface turns out to be a little bit too smooth. But most of them came up with half-assed solutions.
Other e-ink devices also tried to solve the problem of writing friction. The company provides you with one good enough combo instead of throwing you into the wild and letting you figure it out by yourself. You don't have to try out any other writing covers or nibs. Most importantly, you get the right friction from the start. While it's still not good enough to totally replace real paper, it's still much better than other writing devices and gives you the right amount of friction, especially if you write with their ceramic nib, which won't wear off like other nibs. Its surface is covered with a layer of soft membrane which mimics the behavior of a real paper when written upon. Supernote may have the best writing feeling you will ever have before something new comes up. (I don't know what it is created for BTW.) I may be too harsh on the iPad because after all, the iPad is not created for writing. But when I write on my iPad, it's like I was high and trying to conjure a demon so I ended up hating myself. When I write on paper, the handwriting isn't pretty but at least good and recognizable. The original nib on the smooth surface combined provides you the experience of figure skating instead of writing. IPad has the writing feeling of level Shit Biscuit. It can handle both reading tasks and writing tasks very well, which you need to choose if you wish to switch to an e-ink device. An iPad with apps like Notability or Goodnotes is good enough. If you can handle the eye fatigue or you don't have to work heavily on your tablet. That's the main reason someone switches from an iPad to an e-ink tablet. To be honest, iPad Pro is much more powerful than Supernote and any other e-ink device.īut you can stare at an e-ink screen for four hours and only get a sore neck while the traditional screens will burn your eyes out. I personally have an iPad Pro, a supernote A5X, a Boox Max Lumi 1, and an RM2, pretty much tried all the wrong options before I finally find Supernote A5X as my main notebook replacement device.
